Margaux is named a member of Leading Women for the Ocean

Margaux has been named a member of the Leading Women for the Ocean (LWO), a distinguished global network of senior women leaders working to advance ocean conservation and sustainable ocean governance. Her inclusion reflects a growing recognition of the role that emerging leaders play in driving international action for the ocean, particularly in the face of accelerating climate and biodiversity crises.

Launched to amplify women’s leadership across international policy processes, LWO brings together ministers, CEOs, and senior representatives from over 10 countries. The network supports women’s engagement in critical negotiations addressing climate change, overfishing, illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fisheries, and marine pollution – recognising that inclusive, gender-responsive approaches are vital to securing long-term ocean health.

Margaux’s participation in the Third United Nations Ocean Conference provided an opportunity to engage directly with long-standing ocean leaders, including Maria Damanaki, a founding voice behind LWO. This encounter underscored the importance of intergenerational collaboration and mentorship in building a new wave of ocean leadership.

With a background in field-based conservation and international marine policy, Margaux brings a dynamic perspective to LWO – linking science, policy, and advocacy. Her commitment to engaging young women aligns closely with the network’s mission to empower women at all levels to shape the future of ocean governance.

As global attention turns to strengthening the blue economy, achieving biodiversity targets, and securing resilient marine ecosystems, Margaux looks forward to supporting LWO and foster intergenerational collaboration, drive engagement in key negotiations, and spotlight the crucial role of women in sustaining healthy, resilient ocean ecosystems for future generations.
