Francis Appointed to Programme Committee for 2027 Ocean Decade Conference

We are pleased to share that Francis has been selected as a member of the Programme Committee for the 2027 Ocean Decade Conference, a major global event under the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

This appointment recognises Francis’s expertise and ongoing contributions to advancing ocean science, innovation, and collaboration in support of the UN Ocean Decade. The Programme Committee plays a central role in shaping the conference vision, themes, and overall impact.

The 2027 Ocean Decade Conference will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, bringing together up to 2,000 participants from across the global ocean community for a three-day, in-person event. The conference will be co-organised with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) of Brazil, and the City of Rio de Janeiro.

The event will provide a unique opportunity to take stock of progress made during the Ocean Decade, launch new initiatives, and build partnerships that support scalable and lasting ocean action, while helping to shape the Decade’s legacy beyond 2030.
